Future Energy Kiosks

Wiess Energy Hall (2015 – 2017)

  • Adobe Air, Flex, Actionscript, Dropbox
  • Designed and programmed eight kiosks to display text, images, and videos with custom callouts
  • All content is remotely updatable and applications are self-updating
  • Worked closely with writers, graphic designers, and lighting specialists

Each of these applications displays at least one 4K video from the popular German video production company Kurzgesagt, which was hired to create infographic-style videos for the purpose of this exhibit.

All applications update their respective content automatically to the newest version from a Dropbox repository using direct links.

Working for Paul Bernhard Exhibit Design and Consulting on the Wiess Energy Hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, I developed a set of four interactive touch screen kiosks with content related to the future of energy production, trade, and consumption.

A 42″ ELO touch monitor allows users to select from two categories: “Explore” to access an article about the topic, assorted video content, and an integrated glossary, and “Gallery” to display an interactive, grid-based gallery holding anywhere from 6 to 24 images (arranged dynamically in the grid).
