Wiess Energy Hall (2015 – 2017)
Upon pulling a metal lever to the right of the monitor, an Arduino UNO sends a packet to a computer, triggering it to turn the next reel in its sequence. Whenever a reel fails or succeeds, a popup panel animates in with content detailing success or failure in the oil prospecting business.
Working for Paul Bernhard Exhibit Design and Consulting on the Wiess Energy Hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, I developed a slot machine game with a physical lever to educate visitors about the history of oil prospecting.
A 42″ ELO monitor engages users with a bright, colorful demo of three slot machine reels spinning in sequence.
